Radiator Guidance

Too Hot
If you can’t keep your hand on the radiator, due to being too hot, turn the boiler temperature setting down. This will also get rid of the overwhelming heat, when your boiler is on and the heating temperature is set too high.

Top Cold Spots
Bleed your radiators when the top section of the panel is cold when the heating is on. Bleeding your radiators will improving the efficiency of the radiator.

Bottom Cold Spots
Cold spots at the bottom of the radiator indicate poor flow and/or sludge build up. A powerflush is an excellent way to remove any debris build up and improve the efficiency of your central heating system.
Over time, central heating systems accumulate sludge, rust, and debris, leading to reduced efficiency, cold spots in radiators, and even boiler breakdowns. Powerflushing is a professional deep-cleaning process that removes these contaminants, restoring your system’s performance and ensuring smooth, efficient heating.
Why is Powerflushing Important?
- Reduced Efficiency – Sludge and debris block the flow of hot water, making your system work harder and increasing energy bills.
- Uneven Heating – Cold spots on radiators indicate poor circulation, leading to an uncomfortable home.
- Increased Wear and Tear – A clogged system puts extra strain on your boiler and pump, increasing the risk of breakdowns.
- Higher Repair Costs – Ignoring sludge buildup can lead to expensive repairs or even the need for a new boiler.
Powerflushing & New Boiler Installations
When installing a new boiler, it’s essential to ensure that your central heating system is clean. If sludge and debris remain in the system, they can quickly damage the new boiler, reducing its efficiency and lifespan. Many boiler manufacturers require a powerflush as part of the installation process to maintain the warranty. By powerflushing before fitting a new boiler, you:
- Prevent Contaminants from Damaging the New Boiler
- Ensure Maximum Efficiency from Day One
- Comply with Manufacturer Warranty Requirements
- Reduce the Risk of Future Breakdowns
The Benefits of Powerflushing
- Restoring Full Circulation – Eliminates blockages and allows heat to distribute evenly
- Improving Energy Efficiency – A cleaner system requires less energy, reducing heating costs
- Extending System Lifespan – Prevents damage to your boiler, pipes, and radiators
- Quieter Operation – Removes trapped air and debris, reducing noise from pipes and radiators
- Enhancing Reliability – Reduces the risk of future breakdowns and costly repairs
If your radiators take longer to heat up, you’re experiencing cold spots, or your boiler is making unusual noises, it may be time for a powerflush. Contact us today to schedule an inspection and protect your heating system!
